Romantic Wednesdays: Fall for a New Author

Another summer has ended in Seattle, and soon the rain, early sunsets and colder temperatures will keep many of us indoors. It may sound grim, but it’s perfect weather for discovering new authors! Though they are relatively new, each of the following authors has written several books to date, with more on the way in the coming rainy months.

Pacific Northwest author Courtney Milan crafts smart, detailed historical romance in which intelligent heroines maneuver the often constraining social rules of Victorian society. Once a Harlequin writer, she now self-publishes her compulsively readable tales. I’d wager that you can’t read just one. Start with Unveiled, which has a surprise twist that bibliophiles and librarians will love!

If you have a sweet tooth, Laura Florand serves delectable love story confections that take place in Paris and greater France. One series in particular focuses on the lives and loves of chocolatiers! Florand married a French man when she was living in Paris, and her infectious love of France (and its numerous sweets) permeates each of her light, enjoyable books. Cleanse your palate and sink your teeth into The Chocolate Thief, and bon appetit!

Paranormal romance fans need look no further than Darynda Jones, whose humorous tongue-in-cheek sagas starring Charlotte “Charley” Davidson, a private investigator who can see ghosts, have garnered praise, as well as a RITA award. First Grave on the Right is the place to start.
