Combining noir and urban fantasy

In A Kiss Before the Apocalypse by Thomas E. Sniegoski, Death goes missing and the angels turn to the one person with the unique skill set they need to find him. Remy Chandler is a private investigator living in Boston and he isn’t all that surprised when some of God’s worker bees show up asking for a favor. A few dozen centuries ago Remy was known as Remiel, an angel of the lord, and his ability to work in both the human world and the spiritual realm is exactly what’s needed to find the missing reaper, hopefully in time to save the world.

A Kiss Before the Apocalypse is a unique example of the ways in which authors of urban fantasy can add new and interesting twists to the world of magic and mayhem. Sniegoski manages to take readers into the realm of angels and demons without bogging the story down in questions about the nuts and bolts of religion and faith. Remy is a likable guy with cool powers, intelligence, and a hopeful optimism that is somehow cool instead of annoying.
