A Tale of Two Comix Celebrations: ICAF and Short Run Comix

During the first weekend in November, Seattle will be hosting both the International Comic Arts Forum Conference, and the Short Run Comix & Arts Festival, both free to attend!

International Comic Arts Forum Conference 2017
The 19th annual International Comic Arts Forum Conference (ICAF) is an annual symposium dedicated to a high-level study of the comic arts. With an international and diverse focus, ICAF 2017 will include conference panels and addresses from distinguished scholars and creators alike, including Professor Ramzi Fawaz of the University of Wisconsin, comics writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, and comics writer and artist Emil Ferris. Topics range from “genre comics and social justice” to “Historicizing Women’s Representation in Comics!”
When & Where:
Thursday/Friday November 2nd & 3rd at The University of Washington HUB, finishing Saturday, November 4th as a part of Short Run at the Vera Project at Seattle Center.

Short Run Comix & Arts Festival 2017
The 7th annual Short Run Comix & Arts Festival (Short Run) will include hundreds of tabling artists and exhibitors from around the globe, including The Seattle Public Library, and special guests like Anders Nilsen and Leela Corman; as well as comics programming including animation screenings, art and storytelling workshops, an after party, and much more.
When & Where:
Saturday, November 4th, at Fisher Pavilion and The Vera Project at Seattle Center, from 11am-6pm. After-party 8-11pm at The Vera Project.

And stretching the festivities one more day, the Central Library will host an author talk with cartoonists Nicole J. Georges and Julia Wertz, co-sponsored by Short Run, on Sunday, November 5.
