E-book and e-audiobook access returning Thursday, June 13 at noon!

The Library is very happy to share that we have reached another important milestone in our recovery from a recent cybersecurity event. On Thursday, June 13 at 12 p.m. (noon), patrons will once again have access to the Library’s digital book collection through OverDrive and Libby.

At that time, we will update this post with additional information to help you restore your access to e-books and e-audiobooks.

We hope this is welcome news, especially for teen and adult readers participating in Summer Book Bingo!

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you jump back into your digital book queue:

Digital holds: You will be able to place holds and borrow digital books through OverDrive and the Libby app. Library staff still do not have access to patron accounts, so they are unable to assist you with placing or reordering digital holds.

Digital collection and wait times: Please note that the Library has been unable to purchase new titles since prior to our technology outage. As a result:

  • No titles published since May 21 will be available in our collection.
  • Wait times may be longer than normal
  • You may encounter some titles that have no copies available.

Physical items: Holds cannot be placed on physical books, DVDs, CDs, hot spots, etc. at this time. We continue asking patrons to hold onto physical materials, as we remain unable to check these items back into our system. Holds that were not filled before the outage are paused. You will keep your place in line until we can start filling holds again.

While restoring e-book access is a significant step toward the Library’s recovery, we still have work left to do to bring other systems back online. Learn more about our currently available services at www.spl.org/Update.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue work to securely restore all Library systems and services!
