Give us a book you like, we’ll give you a book to love!
Next Wednesday, November 14, readers will be able to get personalized book suggestions on SPL’s Facebook page. A team of librarians from six of our libraries will collaborate all day — from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — to suggest books to readers of all ages.
We’ve done this a kind of thing via our Facebook timeline before — and each time it gets bigger and more fun. Last time, we helped 120 readers during a five-hour period. This time, we’ll be working on finding just the right books to suggest to people for a 10-hour period (so let’s see if we can get 240 people!).
We have two special guests joining the fun and offering suggestions. In the morning, novelist Maria Semple (author of Where’d You Go, Bernadette?; formerly a writer for Arrested Development) will join us. In the afternoon, Mary Ann Gwinn, books editor of the Seattle Times, is stopping by for a couple of hours. Mary Ann also can be seen on Well Read, a program that airs on TVW at 7 and 10 p.m. on Tuesdays.
So, log in to your Facebook account and come visit us. Starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, you can post on our timeline and tell us about a book you like. We’ll give you your next book to try. And often, we can’t restrain ourselves so we’ll tell you two or three books we think will be a good match for you.
